Wing Chun Kung Fu is a Southern Chinese Boxing Martial Arts system, developed in China approximately 400 years ago. It came about during a time of civil war, up until that period most (if not all) Chinese Martial Arts were based on animal movements, hence took many years to learn as the movements were unnatural to human functionality. The people needed a relatively easy system to learn and apply readily. So a group of Shaolin (Sil Lum) Masters from different Martial styles collaborated and developed Wing Chun – an efficient, practical “human style” of martial arts.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling art that originated in Japan and evolved in Brazil. It has of recent times become popularised by the juggernaut of mixed martial arts that is the UFC. Beyond the glamour of sporting events such as that, BJJ is a fantastic martial art for self defence as it utilises structure and leverage against your opponent which means, given the right skills and understanding a smaller person can over come a bigger/stronger one.
To be a martial artist means being an all-round athlete. While all classes will have a fitness element, we can’t possibly cover all of your training requirements in every martial arts class. So, four classes a week are dedicated to your fitness and conditioning to support your journey as a martial arts athlete.
For young children aged 4-12 years, every Saturday from 11am-12noon we run a children’s class where they learn how do be assertive, develop confidence, co-ordination, discipline, flexibility and more. Parents are welcome to stay and watch.
Seven Days of UNLIMITED ACCESS to ALL CLASSES.
We all train together but we do separate individuals into groups of beginners, intermediate and advanced.
So when you train, you will be amongst like minded people just starting out as well.
We would recommend a Wing Chun class as your very first class (unless you are specifically interested in BJJ) and we do prefer that you book in beforehand for you first class with us. After your first session you can come and go as you please!
